Introduction to dog sports

This class will introduce dogs and their handlers to an assortment of dog sports such as Rally or Agility.

Qualification of Dogs:  Successful completion of a Beginner Level 2 class or equivalent.

Qualification for the class may be determined by the instructor.

Beginner Rally 

Dog must be 6 months of age or older. 

Prerequisite : A minimum of successful completion of Puppy Kindergarten, Puppy/Adolescent, Beginners level 1 or equivalent.  Qualification for the class may be determined by the instructor. 

Learn about the fast growing sport of Rally Obedience. Hone you & your dog's obedience skills while learning the signs for both CARO & CKC Rally. For more information on CARO Rally go to http://www.canadianrallyo.ca 

Advanced Rally 

Dog must be 6 months of age. 

Prerequisite: Successful completion of a Beginner Rally or equivalent. Qualification for this class may be determined by the instructor. 

Advanced and excellent signs will be introduced and practiced.  

Master Rally

Dog must be 6 months of age. 

Prerequisite: Successful completion of Advanced Rally, Novice Obedience or equivalent. Qualification for this class may be determined by the instructor. 

Master signs will be introduced and practiced.  

Agility - (Levels 1) 

Dog must be 6 months of age. 

Prerequisite: Beginner Level 2 Class or equivalent - If the previous classes are taken elsewhere the instructor may wish to evaluate your dog to ensure he/she is ready for this level.  

Introduction to all pieces of agility equipment except weave poles.   In the level 2 class improve your handling skills. 

Agility - (Levels 2) 

Prerequisite: Successful completion of Agility Level 1 or equivalent - If the previous classes are taken elsewhere the instructor may wish to evaluate your dog to ensure he/she is ready for this level.  Proper execution of contact equipment, short sequences, advanced flatwork and handling. 

Agility - Continue to Train 

Dog must be one year old or older. 

Prerequisite: Successful completion of an Agility Level 2 or equivalent. Qualification for this class may be determined by the instructor. This class is a continuation of level 2 driven by the progress of the dogs in the class. Raising the height of contact equipment, jump heights, more complicated sequences, handling and weave poles. 

Disc and Tricks Class 

Prerequisite: Beginner level 1 or good off leash control. 18 months +

Disc included. First class: Dogs will be assessed to see their off leash control and if they are interested in retrieving. Teaching will be geared to individual dog personalities vs training styles. Handlers will be taught basic handling skills, dogs will work on recalls, drive of each dog will be assessed using tugs, balls, etc. Tricks will be taught an tailored to your dogs temperament & personality. Each class will build on the basics the dogs have and will present new tools to learn new skills or tricks. 

Rally Trial Ready / Drop in Class 

When available, this class has two courses set up and handlers can run their dogs through the course as often as they like within a set time limit. This is not a class rather a chance to work with your dog and ask questions about the exercises.

Flyball Working Group 

A working group, open to all. Those new to the sport are welcome to come down and check it out.
